Widely regarded as the first modern American novel and considerably more difficult to locate in collector's condition than even its modest limitation suggests. The book was effectively suppressed after publication by Doubleday, Page because of its perceived immoral content.

This copy easily qualifies as the best ever seen by us -- with the red cloth bright, the pages a virginal white, the hinges tight.
